Landmark Tops CHCH At Cooney Field

EJL
On a windy Wednesday afternoon the Chargers baseball team came out hitting after a nine-day break in the action. Alex Bair smashed an opposite-field triple to score Taqwan Jones for the game's first run. Bair added another single to round out his perfect day at the plate. He was joined in the hit column by Andrew Merlino and Alex Dolan, both of whom added singles in an action-packed 4th inning. Another highlight was certainly Peter Loar's perfect pitching performance in the 4th inning, when he retired two Vikings with groundball outs and a third with a strikeout.

The day, however, belonged to Landmark, whose contact hitting stymied the Charger defense all game. The Chargers' seven-error 1st inning was difficult to overcome, and the runs piled up from there. As coaches we always encourage our players to fight even when they are seemingly out of the game. This mental toughness is difficult to practice, but our team will continue to focus on it as the season winds down. We travel next to Portsmouth Abbey on Saturday, which will kick off an eight-day span of five games to finish off the year.
